Where I Began

Hi, I'm The Hiking Texan and I designed thehikingtexan.com to help adult women new to the world of outdoor adventure. And to support them in finding the confidence to travel off-the-beaten-path and enjoy natural environments.

On this site, you'll find various resources, hiking trail and gear reviews, how to best use hiking and travel apps to find places to visit, and female-only hiking and backpacking trips.

While living in Colorado, I became an avid hiker and outdoor enthusiast photographing the various trails visited. Although I suffer from a respiratory illness and am slower than most hikers, my desire and determination for exploration didn't keep me from traversing many of the Rocky Mountain pathways. I ceased living a life restricted by limitations and resolved to follow my heart and live a life without boundaries.

I've met many wonderful and amazing people throughout my time on the trails and knocked some big adventures off my bucket list.

Now that my daughter is grown, I'm exploring the US and beyond I spend much of my time traveling to idyllic hiking, camping, and backpacking locations. It is such a privilege for me to be able to explore and share my passion and knowledge of outdoor travel with you.

I share my experiences and adventures in the hope that I may inspire you to lace up your boots and explore the world. I believe you're never too old to learn something new or for an adventure.

I'm happy you are part of this adventure with me. And I believe that together we can visit places we've always imagined. Thank you so much for being here! Until next time, have fun, and may you never settle for a life that's anything short of wondrous!

Some of my photos have been featured in Houston’s Precinct 4Update, Loveland Magazine, Estes Park Trail-Gazette, North Weld-Herald, the Reporter-Herald, the Woodbridge Inn, Tripadvisor, and Harris County 4Update Magazine. And my travel photos have received 17+ million views on Google Maps.

Thank you so much for being here. It is such a privilege for me to be able to travel, explore, and share my hiking, camping, and backpacking adventures with you.

To stay in the loop, don't forget to subscribe or follow along on Facebook.

Happy Trail!
